The Puzzles mimic the cognitive game play we engage in as children, when we first began associating words with colors, shapes with other shapes, images and signs with abstract, detached, symbolic meanings. It's a core human skill set—a display of higher functioning and of our unquenchable, evolution-driven need to solve things. But unresolvability is of course another type of resolution. Today, in many different situations (some of which feel quite important), most of our energies seem to go into trying to decide whether something is worth the effort of trying to resolve it or not. What is beyond our capabilities? What difficult solutions are still worth the effort required?
